Project Description
Mr. Astle described the building as follows, “This 10,000-acre recreational development in the Utah mountains provides lodge suites, camping, and recreational opportunities for campers, cross-country skiers, naturalists, hunters, snowmobilers, and hikers. The award-winning community center designed by Astle/Ericson & Associations provides dining areas, lounges, office space, support services, and sophisticated kitchen facilities to handle a wide range of food-service options, including a fine restaurant.”1
Upon selection of this facility for the honor award, AIA jurors noted the structure as “timeless, subtly understated, and appropriate to its setting.” Additionally, they praised it for its “execution, detail, and conception.”2
